About the Author
R. Marilyn Schmidt is the author of almost 70 books. She has spent manyyears researching the New Jersey Pine Barrens. She painstakingly took on the task of clearing the title for Buzby’s Chatsworth General Store, located in Chatsworth, New Jersey (the heart of the Pine Barrens) and then renovating the store back to its original condition as much as possible. The store has once again become a meeting place for those interested in the culture and history of the Pine Barrens. Area residents consider Marilyn to be “an adopted Piney,” a title bestowed on precious few folks. It is the title she wears most proudly, although in her lifetime she has claimed many other hats: in addition to being a certified tax assessor and author, she has worked as a biochemist and a pharmacologist. She has a real estate license and has done pottery and painting in her “spare time.” It is the latter she hopes to return to when she retires.

Excellent way to learn about the Pine Barrens of NJ!

I purchased this book several years ago when I first started researching the Pine Barrens of New Jersey and found it to be very helpful in learning how towns got their names, where to locate ruins and interesting facts about this incredible area. R. Marilyn Schmidt is a wealth of information and has clearly done her research well.
If you enjoy history, learning interesting facts or discovering new (or old, in this case) places, this book is for you!

The book was very interesting but it needs to be spell checked and the words are split in places so it was a little hard to read at times.
