***Spoilers***...not to many but some!! Im really pretty disappointed, even a bit depressed about where this is going. Like a majority of you I was and still am very upset about L.J. being fired from her series. The way she was treated was horribly and completely wrong, but I couldnt just leave it at Midnight I still wanted to see where they would take these books, to see if maybe they could do the series a little bit of justice even after what they did to L.J Smith, but I don't think they did. The plot of the book was pretty good overall, a little dull though. The most important thing to me in a book is the characters. And no matter what side of the fence your on (team Bamon, Stelena, or Delena) when L.J. was writing you could tell that she LOVES ALL of her characters with a passion, and that passion really brings them to life & makes them vibrant and wonderful. Most of the characters seemed to be fairly different in this one. Meredith was good, I liked her, she didnt change to much and Alaric too, we get to see more of him! Matt was fine & good ole' Mrs. Flowers was as wonderful as ever. But everyone else seemed to be a bit different in ways that were unnerving at times. That is the plot though a Jealousy Phantom is messing with there emotions and thriving off them. So by the end Stefan was pretty much back to his old self and Damon grew some and changed a little. But Elena and Bonnie's characters seemed to be back tracking rather than growing. If your a Delena fan, well there is some delena moments but it looks as if they are going to turn that into a friendship only. If your a Bamon fan your going to be very disappointed, there was no Bamon what so ever. It almost seemed like they were trying to make Bonnie and Matt a thing, which I disagree with. I don't really understand what the publisher/ghost writers plans are for Damons character if he isnt going to be with Elena or Bonnie or trying to pursue them. Its not like they can just write his character out of the books, that certainly wouldnt be good for book sales. They didnt really try to turn it into the tv series, if anyone was worried about that. There were some disappointments, but I dont regret reading it, the book was alright and I will probably read the next one and see where they go with it, without any help from L.J.'s manuscript.

Something I do think the ghost writer should do, is go back and read all the books again. Did anyone else notice that apparently she thinks Meredith's last name is Suarez? Haha she changed Meredith's name from Sulez to Suarez....yeah major oops there. It would be great if she could manage to get all the characters a little more spot on. I think that L.J. Smith certainly messed up some things in The Return series, with the whole love quadrangle, and the dynamic in the relationship between Elena, Stefan, and Damon...but as far as all the individual characters go, in my opinion L.J. Smith wrote them a little better.

Disappointed Read

Unlike other reviews on this site, I have actually purchased and read the book. L. J. Smith /did not/ write this book, but she has encouraged her readership not to boycott the book, and I think that was a pretty classy move on her part; and because of that, I did buy it to compare the writing styles.

At first glance, the book maintains the core story, a girl with a passionate love for two boys, and her love for the town, her family and her friends. So, the core story is there. But that's pretty much all it's got going for it.
To summarize the plot: A new big bad comes into town, that plagues the main characters and the town they live in. The big bad started showing itself early in the series, when the group goes to pick up Alaric and Celia from the train station. Bonnie pricks her finger, and the name Celia is written in blood. They don't know what this means until Celia's scarf is caught in the train, and spells out the name of the next victim after they manage to save her. They must work together to find out what's going on, in order to save themselves, and the town.

While the plot is a sound one, the story itself was stilted, and it felt unfinished. It was as if the writer rushed through the book and didn't take the time to sit back and really consider or get to know the characters. The characters shown in this book are two dimensional and largely superficial. I don't relate to them, I couldn't get close to them, and I didn't really care about them ` and this is a big failing in a book where you want readers to care about the characters. This is a character driven story, where the plot revolves around them and what happens to them. The characters lacked strength, and purpose. They existed simply because there was a plot that needed to be written.

In comparison, L. J. Smith's writing is rich with detail, and the motivations between the characters; their inner desires are fully fleshed out and they seem like real people, rather than cardboard cut-outs. However, this book is missing all of this detail, the meat and the heart of the characters, and I strongly feel that the story itself suffers from this lacking. In short, I was hugely disappointed in the book. But, others might find enjoyment in it. I will likely buy the other books in the series, because I hate not finishing series ` but I certainly hope the caliber of writing and character content goes way up, and that the Ghostwriter, or at least Alloy, really considers making the characters three dimensional once more, and truly integrating them into the story again.

Disappointed in the ghost writer (warning: spoiler alert)

When I originally started reading "The Hunters" trilogy of The Vampire Diaries, I was hopeful that the characters would continue on the path set out for them by L.J. Smith. The first book, Phantom, seemed to head in the right direction, although I couldn't help feel somewhat disappointed in the way the author portrayed Damon's return and even Elena's reaction to it. After watching Elena's character develop and begin to have feelings for Damon, it was a slap in the face of readers to get this far into the series and to have never really given Damon a chance with Elena. I'm sure Stefan fans are rejoicing everywhere that the ghost-writer decided to play it safe and choose him as the "love interest" over Damon, but I believe the writer did not follow the true path the characters should have taken. The ghost-writer (whoever he/she is) also leaves this book with far too many loose ends to cover in the final book of The Vampire Diaries series. Having Klaus possibly return in the final book is the act of someone desperate to find a reason for excitement. He's supposed to be DEAD. And as we know from previous books in this series, once the soul of a vampire leaves his body for good (no pulsing of life), it's just gone...not even the Guardians can bring him back. The ghost-writer is playing at Pet Cemetery for vampires-- it's just sad.
Also, in the last book officially written by L.J. Smith, the readers learn that Meredith is a human-vampire hybrid (officially sired by Klaus), and that she requires doses of blood to live (blood sausage, blood pudding, etc). In the last two books of The Hunters trilogy there is NO mention of this-- it's as if the entire matter never was mentioned.
The one bright spot in the entire book was Bonnie meeting Zander and finally having her own boyfriend. So many people were hoping Damon and Bonnie would end up together, but that simply would have never worked out-- their characters don't fit together in that way. According to L.J. Smith's blog writing, she had intended for this (Bonnie and Zander) to happen.
If the ghost-writer continues in this vein, it will require (undoubtedly) more than one book to conclude The Vampire Diaries series. I seriously hope he or she does not disappoint readers further by ending the series without substantial closure on most (if not all) fronts.

I lost weight and feel good too

I find that most books that talk about weight loss go out of their way to make me feel bad about how I approach my lifestyle or diet. This book makes you feel good. It reminded me that we are human and that you can still "live" and be healthy. The book has a terrific and easy to follow format. It explains the rationale behind each recommendation without being too technical and it provides easy to follow guides and examples that you can implement into the real world. Its a solid book and I recommend it.

The complete guide to a healthy and happy existence!

A fantastic guide, containing everything you need to know about leading a healthy lifestyle. It gets to the very bottom of the problem we have with obesity (amongst other things) in our modern society. In order to live a healthy life, you must nurture not only your body but your mind as well. When you do this, everything becomes easier to achieve. It is not merely a "lose weight fast with this great new diet" kind of book. It explains age-old techniques of improving our lives in general, both physically and mentally, so that all aspects of your life will naturally come together in a complete package of success, fulfilment and happiness, including, of course, your weight. There is an example of a "daily plan", detailing all the things one should do throughout the day in order to enhance their energy and general health.

Full of general advice (tips for daily exercise and foods to avoid or consume), it is also very detailed, explaining what steps to take to improve a specific area of your body, for example detoxing your liver. All these specific improvements come together as an overall effective weight loss plan that will achieve big results - the natural way, as it should be! In addition, it contains illustrations of the human body, with diagrams showing how to perform various physical exercises that will be beneficial to your health, and links to videos that will instruct you on the correct technique. It also enlightens us with certain truths that we may not be aware of.

Make no mistake, this is far more than just a "weight-loss" book. It is a complete guide to enjoying a healthy existence, in mind and body. You've got to start at the beginning! It merely describes the attitudes and practices that all human beings should observe. If we all did, the world would be a better place, and obesity (for one thing) would cease to exist! It makes perfect sense. I can assure you, if you actively followed the advice in this book, you would never need to buy another book on weight loss, for a start - ever! Highly recommended.

Great "feel good" book about diet and weight loss.

It seems that everyone is talking about weight loss and fitness these days. We, as Americans, are finally realizing what we've done to our bodies with fast food and office jobs. This book is a very detailed explanation of not only weight loss, but detoxification as well. A lot of people don't realize that to truly achieve weight loss, you have to take steps to detox your body and get all of the bad stuff out so the good stuff can thrive.

The "con" I wish this book were longer. It's full of great information that I would have loved to have seen expanded upon. The only reason I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5!

I recommend this book for anyone looking for real, down-to-earth information about weight loss - and how to achieve it the right way. Toss fad diets out the window, and take care of you.

Someone wrote a review that the love scenes were too explicit and that had me laughing out loud! I think this book has some of the most tame love scenes I've read in a looong time! That includes non-romance. Poor Cara's had it rough, she deserves some extra explicit loving!

This is a feel good book on a lazy Sunday afternoon type read. The corny girly girl inside of me enjoyed it and is looking forward to the next in the series.

She wanted to be stubborn. For a second she imagined throwing her wine in his face and telling him to get lost. But a stronger desire quickly took over. One that made her forget her desperate urge to resist him. With her eyes firmly set on his, she brought the glass to her lips and tipped the bottom of it to the ceiling.

"More?" he asked.

Her voice was weak. "Yes."

Victor poured more wine for her.

Cara drank the contents in one swallow.

He smiled. "Another?"

"No." She plunked the goblet down.

"Good." Victor put his hand under her chin and tilted her face up to his. "If you make me wait any longer I think I may have to fire you."

And then he bent down and covered her mouth with his. His tongue quickly parted her lips and slipped in between. She melted into his arms, unable to control her reaction. His hands went to her hair, his fingers trailing through her soft tendrils until he felt the weight of her breasts against him. He instantly pulled her closer and kissed her harder. His hands slid down her back to lift up her blouse.

She shuddered when she felt the tips of his fingers digging against her body shaper like he wanted to tear it off. But she was too mesmerized by his kiss to be embarrassed. If he was put off by the extra weight she carried, he didn't show it. His urgent tongue fiercely licked the inside of her lips as his hands worked even lower, slipping under her waistband to the fleshy rise of her backside.

Damn it, Cara thought. If I'd known he wanted me like this I wouldn't have worn my shaper.

SWEET ROMANCE :)

Meet Victor Barboza--young billionaire. Meet Cara Green--young, single mom to Isaac--a cute, spunky 3 year old. Cara works 3 jobs including working for a catering company. While on a catering job she meets Victor. Victor is instantly attracted to Cara. Cara is down on her luck and her young son is need of surgery. Victor can sense that something is wrong with Cara and questions her. Cara explains to Victor about Isaac and the need for this surgery, this information pulls at Victor's heart. Victor can't get Cara out of his mind. He must see her, again. He pulls out all of the stops to see her and keep her in his life, including little Isaac, who calls Victor "Big Toe".

Follow this sweet, romance story as Victor and Cara embark on finding true love with some steamy sex. Will they find true love or will Victor's wealth scare poor Cara away? I love when an author writes a story and adds a precocious child in the mix. There is nothing sweeter then having a little "person" in a story.

This is the first book in the Barboza Brothers series and I can't wait to read the next book.

HURRY WITH 2ND BOOK

I got this book free and didn't really know what to expect. I was quite pleasantly surprised. Loved the book and the characters. Can hardly wait for book 2 and 3. Cara and "BigToe" were realistic and even tho Isaac wasn't in it much I fell in love with him. Go ahead one-click it and enjoy.

If you think controlling and bullying is romantic, this is the book for you! **SPOILERS**

I hated this book. Everyone in Cara's life makes decisions for her and arranges events so what they feel is best for her will happen. Even if it is exactly against her wishes. And she is constantly self-doubting and letting this controlling behavior continue. I knew by Chapter 3 that it wasn't my idea of romance. Kept reading because I'm stubborn. It only got more ironic.

They commiserate over how his ex won't take no for an answer and is having her followed. Yet he's a stalker who actually says things like "I'm doing whatever I can to keep you from getting away....I will find a way to make you mine." And, after he explains how he has arranged her entire life (housing, child care, employer): It's what is best for everyone involved and he'll take care of all the arrangements. "That's all you need to know." My favorite though is when he follows her halfway across the country, forces himself into her room, starts undressing her while she protests then listens to her explain about a controlling, abusive ex boyfriend she had and how that was such a life lesson--while they are in bed and he's explaining how he has arranged her entire life!!! How romantic!
