Paul is the author of Long Way Down, The Cayman Switch, and The Black Palmetto. A U.S. Navy veteran, he studied economics at Mercer University and worked in financial and computer-related positions before becoming an author. He lives on a lake in Georgia with his wife, Elaine, where he is busy on his next Sam Mackenzie thriller.

Long Way Down

"Long Way Down" is an exciting story that takes its readers from Miami to the backwaters of the Caribbean. The story moves faster than the bullets aimed at the story's hero, with twist and turns as fast as a ricocheting bullet. "Long Way Down" is guaranteed to hold your interest to the last page as the final intrigues are eventually resolved. Mr. Carr is a talented writer who can relate an intriguing story without resorting to sordid language or graphic details to hold the readers interest. "Long Way Down" is a must read for every mystery reader of all ages and sensitivities.

A good easy read.

My first Paul Carr book, read on Kindle, and I enjoyed it. I'm a fan of American crime thrillers and am always on the lookout for fresh material from original writers. This one didn't disappoint. The MC, Sam Mackenzie, has his hands full with manipulative women and gun-crazy gangsters along with crooked businessmen and slippery friends. It's an action-packed story centred on the Florida Keys. Full of shady deals and even shadier characters, 'Long Way Down' keeps the reader guessing right to the end.
If I have one small gripe, it's that some of the action scenarios border on the fantasy rather than the thriller and some of the characters are a little hackneyed. But this didn't spoil the enjoyment of a super crime romp.

Left a Smile on my Face!

This was a fun read. The locations of Florida, Cayman Islands, and Key West are some of my favorites. The action is non stop, the twists and turns in the plot are all interesting and well-layered, the sea planes, light aircraft, helicopters, and stormy weather all add to the fun in this adventure. And trying to figure out which woman was worthy of Sam McKenzie, and which was a manipulator, added just the right tension and romance for this reader. The secondary characters where really well done, my favorite being Prince Alfred, and they all added to the conflict.
I will definitely read this author again.
