Poor Illustrations - Vague Text

I bought this book to learn how to make an eye splice, which is listed in the index as covered in the book. The written text for this splice is short, vague, and incomplete. The diagram shows only the position of the three strands BEFORE any splicing occurs. Looking at a few other knots that I know well shows the same instructional quality. If you want to learn knots and splices, I'd look elsewhere. I've relegated this book to my garage sale pile.

Great knot tying source book

I highly recommend this book for people who journey into the outdoors. Whether on land or water, this little book can add to the list of knots that will serve you well. It's easy to stash in a duffle bag, or a hiking sack. Would make a great source book for a family out camping, or for a scout troop. Great photos and diagrams and the explanations are well written on how to do the knots. A great review for those of us who are a bit rusty at our knotting repertoire. :)
